DYPA at the centre of vocational education excellence - Participation to the VET Excellence Awards Greece 2026

 

The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) was at the centre of the "VET Excellence Awards Greece 2026" awards ceremony, held yesterday, Thursday April 23, at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens with the participation of representatives from the public sector, the academic community, and the business world.

The event was organised by the German-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of important institutions highlighting excellence in the fields of vocational education and training as well as the apprenticeship's defining role in the matching between education and the labour market.

Τhe General Secretary of Vocational Education, Training and Lifelong learning, Ms. Olga Kafetzopoulou, DYPA Governor, Gianna Hormova and the Economic and European Affairs Advisor, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Frank Werner, addressed the event with opening remarks.

«VET Excellence Awards» are a significant institution for more than 11 years, it promotes the apprenticeship in Greece and adopts quality standards inspired by the dual vocational training system. The competition distinguishes businesses, teaching staff and educational units that substantially contribute to the development of vocational education and training.

DYPA actively participates in defining the ranking criteria as well as in the final committee that evaluated and chose the businesses, teaching staff and educational units receiving the awards.

In the business category the following received awards: OTIS Greece collaborating with Piraeus Apprenticeship EPAS, Alibinisis S.A. – BREAD & DOUGH PRODUCTS" collaborating with Chalkida Apprenticeship EPAS and PAPAPARASKEVAS SA. -CONFECTIONARY collaborating with Xanthi Apprenticeship EPAS.

In the teaching staff category the awards were presented to the following: Sideris Karalis, member of the teaching staff and the KARALIS Industrial and Commercial S.A. (NEW LOOK) collaborating with the 2nd Thessaloniki Apprenticeship EPAS, Stefanos Mikes, member of the teaching staff and owner of the STEFANOS BARBERSHOP business collaborating with Chios Apprenticeship EPAS and Georgios Dasoudanis, member of the teaching staff and ARTISTIC PIGS PARTNERSHIP and CRIMINAL MONKEYS PARTNERSHIP companies collaborating with Alexandroupolis Apprenticeship EPAS.

In the educational units’ category, the following received the awards: Kilkis Apprenticeship EPAS, 1st Thessaloniki Apprenticeship EPAS and Serres Apprenticeship EPAS.

Using its network of 50 Apprenticeship EPAS throughout Greece DYPA continues to invest in the provision of modern skills and to enhance the apprenticeship institution offering young people the opportunity to gain professional experience in real work circumstances while providing renumeration and social insurance.
