Institute of Vocational Training of the Greek Public Employment Service - "Initial Vocational Training"

1. Study in the PTIs has a total duration of 5 semesters and divided into:
   4 semesters of theoretical and laboratory training (up to 1.200 teaching hours) and
   1 semester of practice lasting in total 960 hours (120 days Χ 8 hours/day).
   Apprenticeship in GPES PTIs is paid and is carried out in accordance with KYA No. 39883 (Government Gazette A΄/2476/2023).
2. Trainees in PTIs are entitled to do Practical Training after the completion of the 4th semester of their studies.
3. The traineeship lasting in total 960 hours (120 days Χ 8 hours/day)
4. The traineeship must be relevant to the subject of the trainee's specialty.
5. Hours should be 6 to 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. The internship takes place during morning or afternoon hours, but never at night.
6. Trainees should not be employed on Sundays and public holidays.
7. Trainees may not be absent for a total of more than 15 days during the six months, in which case the required hours of Internship must be completed.
8. The insurance coverage is provided by the Greek Public Employment Service with Social Security Institute (IKA) insurance, paying 1% on the imputed salary of the twelfth insurance class for accidents at the space where the Internship takes place.
9. It follows from the legislation that the employer is not liable for any financial burden  during the traineeship.

In order to carry out the Internship of trainees of Institutes of Vocational Training (PTI), the following procedure is followed:

1. The trainee candidate submits to the PTI a Traineeship Start Application
2. Completes a form with the Trainee's Personal Data Record
3. The employer signs the relevant form "Declaration of Interest/Employer Confirmation"
4. The Directorate of the PTI issues a "Decision of Approval of the start and the Internship Programme" for the candidate trainee (trainee).
5. The trainee is registered in the "ERGANI" system
6. The candidate trainee delivers to the employer the "Internship Approval Decision" and the "Internship Book". (The book is completed daily by the trainee and signed weekly by the employee or manager designated as the "Responsible Instructor" for the trainee's Internship).
7. The trainee candidate co-signs the "Special Trainee Internship Agreement"
8. Upon completion of the Internship program, the employer issues a "Certificate of Presence", delivers to the trainee the "Internship Book" completed, which they then submit to PTI, in order to issue the "Certificate of Completion of Internship".

During the Internship:

• The company/employer must accept the Internship supervisors, who are responsible for carrying out on-site inspections for the observance of the trainee's presence, the implementation of the Internship object and the evaluation of the working environment in general.
• For any issues that may arise during the Internship, the employer must contact the competent Internship supervisor to seek a solution, which may even include the termination of the Internship of the trainee in question.
• In the event that it is found that a trainee is absent continuously for more than 15 working days without notice, the Director of the Vocational Traning Institute (PTI) may discontinue the Internship.
• Before the commencement of the Internship of the students of PTI, the completion of Form E3.5 in the ERGANI system is required, according to the no. 40331/D1.13521/19-9-2019 (Government Gazette 3520/B/2019) Ministerial Decision.

Internship conditions of the trainee
1. Each trainee carries out the traineeship in departments of the employment agencies corresponding to his/her speciality, under the supervision of a person in charge of the agency, of a speciality corresponding to the subject of his/her training.
2. The hours of practice per day are set at four (4) to eight (8) depending on the nature and scope of the trainee's specialty training. The daily hours may not be exceeded beyond the hours specified in the specific traineeship contract.
3. It is forbidden to carry out the internship at night (22:00 - 06:00).
4.Traineeships may not be carried out on Sundays and public holidays.
5. The trainee must produce, where required, all the medical certificates necessary for the practice of the profession. The issue of health certificates and the medical operations required for the traineeship, where the trainees are not directly or indirectly insured, shall be carried out free of charge by public hospitals or by doctors under contract with the State or with social security bodies.
6. The internship is carried out under the responsibility of the employers and under the supervision of the PTI of the trainee.
7. The trainee has the right to report to the management of the PTI the non-observance of the terms of the traineeship.
8. The supervision, coordination, quality assurance and evaluation of the internship are carried out by the Office of Professional Development and Careers of PTI, under the responsibility of the Director of PTI.

The IEKs of ISPA provide quality initial vocational training that meets the needs of the economy and ensure that trainees are qualified through the provision of scientific, technical, professional and practical knowledge, enabling them to develop competences and skills that will facilitate their integration into the labour market.

The course is of five semesters, divided into four semesters (2 years) of theoretical and laboratory training of up to 1,200 teaching hours of specialisation and one semester of paid practical training of 960 hours.

The IEKs of DYPA ensure to their graduates (after initial vocational training certification examinations), a Level 5 Vocational Specialisation Diploma.

This year, a total of 5,127 applications were submitted for admission to the OAED's IEK for the school year 2021-22, an increase of 32% year-on-year and 198% compared to the school year 2019-20.

Those who hold a High School Diploma (General or Vocational), of all ages, are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted via gov.gr at the following address:

Extension until 15 September for registrations in the 30 IEK of DYPA of successful candidates through the parallel computerized

The deadline for the registration of successful student candidates through the parallel computerized registration in the 30 IEKs of DYPA for the training year 2023-2024 has been extended until Friday, September 15.

Successful candidates are invited to come to their IEK of choice by Friday 15 September from 08:00 to 15:00 to apply for registration.

Successful candidates who do not apply by the deadline will automatically be deemed not to wish to register.

Amendment of Decision No. 48230/16-01-2023 "End of training activities for the Winter Semester 2022 - Start of the Spring Semester 2023 at the IEKs of the DYPA"
By Decision No. 169551/10-02-2023 of the Deputy Governor of DYPA, Decision No. 48230/16-01-2023 is amended. 2023 Decision "Closing of training activities for winter semester 2022 - Start of spring semester 2023 at the Vocational Training Institutes of DYPA" and sets 17 February 2023 as the new closing date for the completion of the winter semester and 20 February 2023 as the new starting date of the spring semester for the Vocational Training Institutes of DYPA.

28% increase in enrolments in the 31 IEKs of DYPA

The number of enrolments in the 31 Vocational Training Institutes of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) increased by 28% on an annual basis.
Specifically, 2,344 students registered for the first semester of the 2022-23 training year, while the corresponding number of registrations last year was 1,832.  It should be noted that the number of enrolments in the IEKs of DYPA (t. OAED) has more than tripled (+227%) compared to the 2019-20 training year.
The aim of IEK-DYPA is to provide quality initial vocational training that meets the needs of the economy and to provide trainees with skills that will facilitate their integration into the labour market.
Attendance at IEK-DYPA is of five semesters, divided into four semesters of theoretical and laboratory training of a total duration of up to 1,200 hours of specialisation, according to the specific curricula, and one semester of Practical Training, of a total duration of 960 hours.
IEK-DYPAs provide graduates (after initial vocational training certification examinations) with a Level 5 Vocational Specialisation Diploma. The specialties for the training year 2022-2023 are as follows:

registrations in the 31 IEK of DYPA - Late applications for courses with available places continue until 28 September

Registration of prospective students in the 31 IEKs of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) in 47 specialties for the 2022-23 training year started today.
After the completion of the marking of the applications, the prospective students will be informed by the IEK-DYPA of their choice, through an email, about their placement in the shortlists and shortlists, so that they can come within three working days for registration.
At the same time, online applications will continue to be accepted only for specialties with vacancies until 28/9/2022 at 23:59. The relevant specialties, per IEK-DYPA
Those who hold at least a General High School or Vocational High School diploma are eligible to apply, regardless of their age. Applications must be submitted online via gov.gr using the TAXIS access codes at the following address:
