Larisa Open Day

One of the main pursuits of the European Year of Skills, to showcases the significant role of skills for the professional present and future all over Europe, is reflected in the "Open Day" events by DYPA.

Visitors attending the event implemented in the EPAS and IEK premises were offered valuable information and not just brochures. They also had the opportunity to observe closely the work Schools have to offer and to talk directly to the EPAS apprentices, IEK students and teaching staff.

Groups of EPAS apprentices from the various specialties took part in this event (specialities such as Beauty and Make up Art technician, Hairdressing technician, Culinary Art technician, Thermal and Hydraulic Facilities Technician, Electrical Works and Lift Technician, Electrical System Technician for Conventional and Electric Cars, Engine and System Technician for Conventional and Electric Cars, Administrative And Financial Business Executive, Smart Electronic Devices and Installations Technician, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning System Technician).

The event was also attended by IEK students from the fields of study/ specialties of pharmacy assistant, early childhood educator assistant and Executive of Hospitality Units.

Furthermore, visitors had the opportunity to learn how the EPAS and IEK fields of study/ specialties constantly adapt to achieve a link between the offered specialties and the local labour markets' needs.

Strengthening vocational education and training is a key factor to cover the needs of the respective fields of the economy. That applies for the whole Europe and affects significantly the Greek businesses that are also facing difficulties finding suitable staff.

Currently DYPA is implements an energy and building upgrade to the EPAS and IEK facilities, in order to improve the studying conditions for the apprentices and students. At the same time DYPA, with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, cooperates with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to develop study programmes that meet the needs of the labour market.

Events such as "Open School" help DYPA strengthen it extrovert identity and inform the public about the professional prospects graduates of Vocational Education and Training have, especially those who chose to study in the DYPA EPAS and IEKs due to the high-quality study programmes.
