Assistant Professors in Demography at CPop

We are opening one or more  positions as Assistant Professor in demography at the Danish Centre for Population Research of The Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (CPop) at the University of Southern Denmark, Campus Odense. The position is expected to start on July 1 or soon thereafter and is a fixed-term position of up to 4 years.

The Centre is part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and collaborates with researchers in economics and political science, as well as researchers in other fields including evolutionary ecology, conservation biology, mathematics and data analysis in the Faculty of Sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, biodemography and health economics in the Faculty of Health Sciences, and literature and media science in the Faculty of Humanities. One of the prime directions of the Centre’s research is ageing in modern societies and its diverse implications. We study patterns of changing mortality and morbidity, mostly in human populations but also in non-human species. We maintain a strong and unique profile in analytical demography and are expanding to also include more application-oriented research like pension schemes or covid-19 demography.

The Centre is one of the leading teams in the world for demographic modelling and forecasting. The new assistant professors are expected to contribute to this research and help us become even stronger. Much of our research is financed by large external grants; our new colleagues are expected to work on these trailblazing projects as well as developing their own projects. The Centre currently has little teaching obligations but we plan to establish a teaching program in demography and the assistant professors are expected to help plan this and later to teach here.
